Race 2 - Dunbar 15th November

The route is pretty much the same as previous years . Please note that the attached route is the proposed route and we preserve the right to make alterations, if required, up to and including the day of the race.

A rough outline of the route is available on the attached map. Both routes (junior and senior) take in beach and coastal trails. Studs but not spikes recommended (road shoes would be OK too).

Details of Whitesands car park can be found on here:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=whitesands+dunbar&hl=en-GB&ll=55.998381,-2.460937&spn=0.047422,0.108318&gbv=2&safe=strict&hnear=White+Sands+Stables,+Brandsmill,+Dunbar,+East+Lothian+EH42+1RU,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=13

Please be aware that the start and end of the Dunbar leg is pretty "spartan" there is a public toilet block that should be open for the event but there is very little else in the nature of changing/shelter. Bring extra layers to keep warm before and after :-)

First Round : Lauder Information

STOP PRESS : We have (23 October) added another 50 places to Entry Central so, if you'd still like to run, then you know what to do !

Lauder Info

For those runners new to our series, Lauder is real cross country running with a mixture of paths, trails, hills, water and mud with great views and a warm welcome as you finish. Please wear off road / trail shoes as the route is unsuitable for spikes.

Please read and following information carefully so we can all enjoy the day. With around 500 people expected on the day PARKING could be an issue unless everyone is sensible. DO NOT PARK ON THE A68. We will NOT be supervising car parking as we assume that you will use common sense and park appropriately. Please make every effort to fill your car with other runners, be patient. and arrive in plenty time. Car parking in the Health Centre Car Park is reserved for the emergency vehicles and race marshals and organisers. There is no parking around the very narrow roads around the park. The main parking (60 plus spaces) can be accessed by following the sign for Stow from the A68 and turn left (signposted Primary School). Please park in the marked bays in the car park and primary school car park, and on the left hand side of the route opposite the houses. Do NOT block any resident's access. Please follow the following guidance as there are plenty of parking  within the village  all within a 10 minute walk of the public park where registration and the start / finish is located.

From Edinburgh and the North turn first right before the filling station and park on the bays around the recycling area (20 places) or first right past the filling station for on road parking around Brownsmuir Park, taking care not to block residents' entrances. From the South take the first left after the 30 miles an hour sign and park on street in Lauderdale Drive, again taking care not to block entrances. From the minor road from Galashiels the Southern Upland way car park can accomodate about 20 cars. If you plan to go for lunch / drink at the Lauderdale Hotel please inform them if you wish to use their car park.

Public toilets are available in the Main Square in Lauder and in the football pavilion where refreshments will be available for a small charge. For those new to Lauder there are numerous places to enjoy a coffee and all the local hotels serve meals at lunchtime.

This series has a history of friendly and competitive rivalry and we look forward to hosting the first round again this year.

SEVENTH AND FINAL - THE PRESENTATION - LEG

Courtesy of Nigel and Lynn Dudgeon, Tweed Striders will host the seventh and final - the presentation - leg of this year’s 25th anniversary series at Conundrum, Berwick-upon-Tweed, next Sunday, 15 February.  In order that the day may run smoothly so be enjoyable for all, please take a few minutes to read the following items of “house-keeping”.

How to find Conundrum : Conundrum is situated just off the A1 about half a mile north of Berwick-upon-Tweed;  if coming from the south it is on the left and on the right if coming from the north.  The entrance is signposted Conundrum and is opposite a turbine;  as a “marker” Nigel will park his yellow JCB at the Conundrum road end, bucket in the air.

Roadworks : these are ongoing on the A1 currently.  With luck there will be a gap in the cones allowing those coming from the north to cross through at the Conundrum entrance;  if no gap, then continue on to Berwick, go round the Morrisons roundabout and back up the A1.  For those going south on the road home, again if no gap, turn left,  go to and over the Lamberton flyover, then south back down the A1 to the Morrisons roundabout.

Parking : This will be the same as last year, with marshals in charge of parking, whereby the first cars to arrive will be parked in Conundrum steading;  thereafter cars will be turned at the steading and parked on the roadway heading back out.   This will enable those who wish to leave early to do so easily.

Refreshments : All runners are entitled to soup, buttered roll, tea or coffee or hot chocolate upon production of their number (no number = no free refreshments);  there will be refreshments (bacon rolls, fried egg rolls, traybakes, hot / cold drinks, crisps) on sale for supporters and any runner who wants something additional.

Footwear : As Conundrum is in constant use throughout the year, please remove all muddy footwear before entering the venue.  It goes without saying that muddy footwear must not be washed out in the toilets nor worn in the cafĂ© which is carpeted.

Changing : There are no changing facilities per se though some may choose to change in the area immediately behind the door to the three toilets.  Runners are politely requested not to change in the toilets themselves as this renders the toilets “off-limits” to those in need !

Junior and Senior Courses : Neither is suitable for spikes;  course maps are below;  there will be a warning whistle five minutes before the start of each race.

The Presentation : This will take place as soon as Stuart has been able to process the results from this round.

Conundrum : Situated in the beautiful and peaceful North Northumberland countryside, with spectacular views plus the Halidon Hill Battle Trail, Conundrum is the ideal venue in which to hold any function (birthday party, christening celebration etc) or corporate event.  For further information please contact Nigel Dudgeon on 07824 374102.

Tweed Striders look forward to welcoming everyone to  Conundrum on Sunday.

PAXTON HOUSE - PROVISIONAL RESULTS (Version 2)

A big thanks to Les and the gang for laying on such a hilly, muddy, wet, testing, lung-busting, scenic and technical course! To think of the money some people waste to do the so-called "tough-mudder" :-)

Anyway. By now you probably have rid your legs from all that lovely Paxton mud and are now sitting relaxing.

Which can mean only one thing...it's time for the PROVISIONAL results. So here they are:-
