LEG 4 CHIRNSIDE

We are extremely proud to welcome everyone to the fourth round of the Borders XC series at Chirnside. We hope we have set up a course that is challenging has enjoyable views and fun to do. Please wear off road/trail shoes as the both the junior and senior routes are unsuitable for spikes.
** IMPORTANT**  Please note for this round we are asking all participants (seniors and juniors) to declare before they run. This is because we have a duty of care while you do our event so we need to know who’s running the course in the event of an emergency. It’s a five second process where we ask you to show your number to one of our declaration team who will be at the start before each race.
With a large number of people currently doing the series parking could be an issue unless everyone is sensible. We have kindly been given permission to use the area in and around the primary school. Postcode for Sat Navs isTD11 3XL it is only a 5 minute walk to the start. Please respect the residents in the village.
There will be tea/coffee & refreshments available after the event in the Chirnside Community Centre (just across the road from the start finish) – please remove all dirty footwear before entering the hall. There are also toilets in the hall, at the football pitch and public toilets available next to the community centre.

BERWICK - RESULTS

OK folks. We are all getting used to the drill by now.
Another race ..... another set of PROVISIONAL results.

As per usual please contact the organisers of each leg with any errors, omissions etc.

Can we please make a request. The time keepers and number spotters have a difficult task that takes their full attention from the first runner to the very last.

We appreciate that it is tempting but please do not interrupt them in their task to ask for times etc.

Anyway. Here they are:

TWEED STRIDERS’ XC AT SPITTAL ON SUNDAY 4 DECEMBER

Tweed Striders look forward to welcoming you to the third leg of the XC at Spittal.  In order to ensure the event goes as smoothly as possible for all (runners, spectators, volunteers, local residents), we would ask you to take some time to read these brief notes.

Car parking : there is a large car park on the left hand-side of Sandstell Road as you approach Spittal Point and there is plenty of on-street parking in Spittal but, if parking on-street, please ensure you do not block driveways etc.

For those of you still to collect numbers, Romie Scott will issue these from her grey Suzuki Splash (NJ13 AXK) which will be parked in the very small carpark at the end of Sandstell Road.  However, in order to leave this carpark free for Berwick residents out for a Sunday stroll, please do not park here.

Both races will start on the beach at Spittal Point.  The beach can be accessed from St Helen’s Terrace (north end of Spittal Prom) : from St Helen’s Terrace,  go down the walkway on to the beach, turn to your left and walk back along the beach to the start.

The junior race will start at 11.30 am and senior race at 12 noon.  There will be a warning whistle 5 minutes before the start of each race and the athlete briefing for both will be on the beach at the start line.  However, in the event of “the unexpected “, Tweed Striders reserve the right to amend race start times (and courses) as necessary.

The results will be posted on the XC website as soon as possible.  However, whilst the timekeepers and recorders (all of whom are volunteers as are the marshals) do their utmost to get everything right, grelims can and invariably do sneak in. So, in the event of gremlins, please contact Tweed Striders  via tweedstriders@gmail.com or via a host club rep - then bear with us while we fix.
Forte Bros will have a catering van on site (either at St Helen’s Terrace or on the grass in front of the chimney) selling tea, coffee, bacon / egg rolls, soup etc.  There are public toilets further along the Prom, behind the arcade just after the Bowling Club.  There are also public toilets in Berwick town centre (Eastern Lane and Woolmarket).

1st Leg - Lauder, Sunday 6th November.

For those runners new to our series, Lauder is real cross country running with a mixture of paths, trails, hills, water and mud with great views and a warm welcome as you finish. Please wear off road / trail shoes as the route is unsuitable for spikes.

Please read and following information carefully so we can all enjoy the day. With around 500 people expected on the day PARKING could be an issue unless everyone is sensible. DO NOT PARK ON THE A68. We will NOT be supervising car parking as we assume that you will use common sense and park appropriately. Please make every effort to fill your car with other runners, be patient. and arrive in plenty time. Car parking in the Health Centre Car Park is reserved for the emergency vehicles and race marshals and organisers. There is no parking around the very narrow roads around the park. The main parking (60 plus spaces) can be accessed by following the sign for Stow from the A68 and turn left (signposted Primary School). Please park in the marked bays in the car park and primary school car park, and on the left hand side of the route opposite the houses. Do NOT block any resident's access. Please follow the following guidance as there are plenty of parking  within the village  all within a 10 minute walk of the public park where registration and the start / finish is located.

From Edinburgh and the North turn first right before the filling station and park on the bays around the recycling area (20 places) or first right past the filling station for on road parking around Brownsmuir Park, taking care not to block residents' entrances. From the South take the first left after the 30 miles an hour sign and park on street in Lauderdale Drive, again taking care not to block entrances. From the minor road from Galashiels the Southern Upland way car park can accomodate about 20 cars. If you plan to go for lunch / drink at the Lauderdale Hotel please inform them if you wish to use their car park.

Public toilets are available in the Main Square in Lauder and in the football pavilion where refreshments will be available for a small charge. For those new to Lauder there are numerous places to enjoy a coffee and all the local hotels serve meals at lunchtime.

This series has a history of friendly and competitive rivalry and we look forward to hosting the first round again this year.

Race 6, Gala' - Results

Well. It's Valentines Day and "love is in the air".
Unfortunately there was also a cold wind, sleet and a fair bit of snow.... so well done to all those that took part today. And not forgetting a "well done" to all those who gave up their own run to set up, marshal and organise.

And well done to all the prize winners today.

Please let us know of any errors, omissions and what-nots.

JUNIOR RESULRS - RACE 6  Ver 2 ("missing runner" identified).

SENIOR RESULTS - RACE 6

And here are the final results By Category after the six legs. Remember - its the best four results that count (so, obviously you have to have done at least 4) and in the case of a "draw" on points we look back to when the two runners last went "head to head" and who won on that occasion.

PAXTON XC - SUNDAY 10TH JANUARY - IMPORTANT INFO

Once again we are pleased to have Paxton House as the venue for the NRC round of the Border XC series and would like to thank the management & staff for their co-operation, also the Home-Robertson family for generously allowing us access to the surrounding farm/woodlands.

Owing to the continuing poor weather parking is likely to be on the drive & roadsides so please car share where possible, allow enough time a 10 min walk/jog and above all please avoid parking on the mown verges near the farm & entrance to Paxton House.

Registration will be in the tearoom conveniently situated close to the toilets and start/finish areas of both races. The tearoom will be open at 10am serving teas, coffee, soup, rolls  etc.

Both Senior & Junior routes will consist of the usual mixture of parkland, fields, stream crossing(s) depending on the weather, woodland/riverside paths and MUD!!!

Seniors will complete a lap of the Junior route before heading off in search of adventure! Updated maps will be on display in the Courtyard on the day.....please note the course is unsuitable for spikes.

In order that we continue to be made welcome at Paxton House......PLEASE park where directed, when warming up stick to the marked route on the farm/woodland and try to avoid using the toilets whilst wearing muddy footwear.

Note that under no circumstance will washing shoes in the toilets be tolerated!!!
