PEEBLES - RESULTS

A big thanks to our hosts today from Moorfoot.
As ever a tough course that had "it all"........ a beautiful riverside trail, a scenic viaduct crossing, a path through the woods, a lung-bustin' hill and a muddy finish. Fantastic.

New results are now here.

footnotes:

A hat without a head ...The multi coloured, knitted, pom pom hat that was found at Lauder is now with Romi and can be collected from registration at the next race.

Polite request.  Number spotters and timekeepers have a hard job trying to record everyone who comes in. Please make their job easier by:

  1. Keep the finish area immediately beside them clear. Yes we all want to see friends and club mates finish, but please leave some working room.
  2. "I know your busy, but what was my time".... Please ask Santa for a watch this Christmas.
  3. If you finish the race ... please do not go back onto the course to "run in" with others.

Once the results from round 3 are "confirmed" and anomalies removed we will calculate the places so far and team points etc.

LOST AND FOUND

Well....it wouldn't be cross country if someone didn't leave something.

We have recieved the following message(s)...

"On unpacking my bike pannier this morning I found I had an extra pair of black running longs. I don't know how they got in there but I expect someone at yesterday's Lauder race is missing them. They are by Karrimor in size medium."

If you are missing yours get in touch and we will get you in contact with the finder.

"I was running at Lauder on Sunday and think someone must have picked up my hat by mistake. It is a green and purple wooly Sherpa hat which me and my daughter share. It is only a few weeks old and was wondering if anyone has said they have it, it is our favourite!"

If you found a hat like this then please let us know and we will try to reunite it with the owner.

RACE 1 LAUDER. RESULTS

There may have been a chill in the air and a bit of a breeze...but at least the sun was out for the runners in today's first leg of the 2013/14 series.

Well done to Lauder for hosting a great, albeit challenging, course. Hills, stream crossings, mud and slippery climbs - a bit in there for everyone.

PROVISIONAL results are here.

LAUDER

Only a few days to go until the first round in Lauder.  Please read the following carefully. The senior event is FULL. Please do not turn up expecting to enter on the day as your request will be politely but firmly refused.

Parking
There is ample parking in Lauder within a 10 minute walk.
From Edinburgh turn right at the Lauderdale Hotel and then 1st left towards the primary school. this area can accomodate over 50 cars in the car parks and on street parking (Allanbank Gardens). Park at the other side from the houses and do not obstruct the residents exits.

From the south after the Kelso turn off on your right take the first left. There is ample on street parking around the Maitland Park area. Again respect the residents property and access.

From Gala there is a small car park at the southern upland way car park which will take 20-30 cars.

If you are helping on the day you must use the new Health Centre Car Park which will be reserved for this purpose.

We will not be supervising parking and I have asked our community police to be aware of the extra traffic, and they will enforce any issues around selfish parking and take appropriate action.

Registration
Please bring along your confirmation e mail to speed up the registration process. Please allow plenty time and be patient as we cope with around 350 runners.  Please remove all muddy footwear before entering the sports pavillion. there will be refreshments available to buy before during and after the event.

Course.
Hilly, muddy, scenic and tough and as 2012. Not suitable for spikes. Although the red Cross is in attendance and a full risk assesment has been carried out you are responsible for your own safetyand this is a condition of entry. Please follow the instructions of the race director and marshals.

We have had a few issues organising this series but we look forward to a great start to the 2013 series. Please check the website before you start your journey as the Race Director reserves the right to pospone the event due to inclement weather or unacceptable risks to participants or spectators.

I hope you enjoy your day

SERIES FINAL - RESULTS.

That's the last leg done and dusted for 2012/13.

Well done to everyone who took part - hope you enjoyed it. And thanks to one and all who helped out in planning, setting up, marshaling etc for all the legs ("they also serve, who only stand and point...")

Here are the results of leg 5

SENIORS
JUNIORS

NOTE: Known issue. In the seniors results for race 5 two numbers are "wrong" - two possible reasons for this. (1) The number was taken down wrongly - for which we apologize in advance. (2) Runners turned up wearing their numbers for 2011/12 (it's happened before).

And here are the final results:

SENIOR (By age category)
SENIOR overall.

JUNIOR (By age category)
JUNIOR overall.

See you all next November. Check this site later in the year for details.

Senior race 12:00 noon.

Organisers would like to request that runner’s park either in the town center or in the grounds of Galashiels Academy and avoid parking at the Swimming Pool.  It is important that the swimming pool area is kept clear and access is available for local residents attending the pool.

On another matter [Gala] will be setting up a power point presentation showing the many photographs of this year’s Xcountry series,  this will be run on the big screen at the Galashiels Academy while we are waiting for the results.  Would it be possible for you to contact all other clubs and request that they email some of their best photographs so I could include  them in the presentation.

BEST 3 AFTER 4 (Updated 03/02/13)

With only one more leg to go (at Gala), and with the series now the best three out of five, we thought it prudent to bring the "scores on the doors" so far after four legs.

So here they are:

SENIOR

JUNIOR

And here are the category places (so far). Again it's the best three that count....

Please note that these results reflect a few changes (names - spellings etc.), but also reflect a slight change in the Peebles results. To that effect the revised Peebles results are reflected HERE.

BERWICK - CANCELLED. (Update 18/01/13)

Please note that, as some may already be aware, the next leg of the Borders Cross Country Series, due to be held at Berwick on 27th January has been CANCELLED.

There are health and safety issues that can not be ignored and mean that this race can not go ahead. These are:

"The River estuary is in a very dangerous state after all the debris has been washed down and is now blocking the start and finish area around Spittal point and on to the beach as well.

Also the state of the cliff top tracks are very wet and slippery because of the weather and with it being an out and back course and narrow passing places with sheer drops onto the beach and it is dangerous hazard.

Priority has to be safety first in any event we organise as a club before there is a serious incident that we would always regret."

The series will be reduced to five legs. This means that overall position will now be calculated on the best 3 results and the team positions will be based on the best 4 results.
